Dr. Courtney Carthel, D.D.S.

Dr. Courtney Parsley-Carthel, a Texas Panhandle native, was raised in Vega, Texas. After graduation from Vega High School, Dr. Carthel attended Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas on a full academic scholarship. It was in San Angelo that Dr. Carthel discovered her passion for dentistry while working as an assistant in an Oral Surgery practice. Dr. Carthel was then accepted into the University of Texas Health Science Center - San Antonio School of Dentistry. Finding her calling in dentistry, she excelled in her studies, as she was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society while simultaneously obtaining a certificate for teaching dentistry to future dental students. While in dental school, Courtney also completed extra training to achieve Level II Certification for Sedation Dentistry. Dr. Carthel graduated from UTHSCSA Dental School in 2013 ranked 2nd in her class.

Courtney then followed her husband, Kade Carthel - a Gruver, Texas native - to Houston, where he was completing his training as a Cardiologist. She began her practice as an Associate Dentist at Houstonian Dental in the summer of 2013. Courtney quickly established a busy practice and a loyal patient following at Houstonian, performing general and cosmetic dentistry on both adult and pediatric patients. She continued her practice in Houston until the summer of 2017, when Kade completed his training, and the couple decided to return home to the Texas Panhandle to establish their practices.

Dr. Carthel believes the key to a successful practice is to provide sound dentistry while simultaneously maintaining excellent communication with her patients before, during, and after their treatment. She also feels strongly that treatment decisions should be made in the best interest of the patient's dental health, and that the patient should actively be involved in that decision-making process. A big proponent of preventative dentistry, Dr. Carthel also stresses the importance of routine dental care at home to
ensure excellent long-term oral health.

Courtney's husband, Kade Carthel, is a practicing Interventional Cardiologist at the Cardiology Center of Amarillo. They reside in north Amarillo with their two "fur babies", Tator and Zoey.

When they are not treating patients, Courtney and Kade can most likely be found in the Great Outdoors, where they love to travel, camp, hike, ski, bike, etc. Courtney is also an accomplished tennis player, and enjoys competing in local and state tennis tournaments through the USTA.

Dr. Carthel is thrilled to be back in the Panhandle. She and her husband love the Amarillo area and look forward to starting a family in such a great community.
